[view result] Visiting Finnigan's Ice Cream Parlor at the Museum of Science and Industry last week were: (standing) Brace Sagan, Herald Publisher; and Mrs. Herbert .Last, 5750 S. Stoney Island. (Sitting, 1. to r.) Miss Marguerite .Finnigan of Springfield Illinois; and Mra. Frances Finnegan of Champaign, Illinois. Miss .Finnigan is a sister and Mrs. Finnegan a sister-in-law of the former James Finnigan who was a Hyde Park druggist from 1915 to 1961. The ice cream parlor has been built out of fixtures from Finnigan's Drug Store, which formerly stood on the Southeast corner of 55th and Woodlawn. Sagan with the help of the Department of Urban Renewal, preserved the fixtures and donated them to the Museum for use on their "Street of Yesterday/ Mrs. Last, a friend of the Finnigan family, invited the Finnigan's to Chicago for their first view of the recreated drug store.

[view result] Mrs. Mollie Wertheimer, 101 years old, celebrated the bicentennial ln style at the Drexel Home. Addle Rainey, a fashion designer and friend of Ms. Wertheimer planned a fashion show in her honor, highlighting not only original designs, but also fashions from the 18th century. Above, Mrs Wertheimer is taken on stage by her son and Ms. Rainey. Models in the show were Ms. Ruthsell Mayhar, Ms. Patricia Edsel, Ms. Winda Wiley and Ms. Rainey. [view result] Michael C. Braun has been elected Vice President of the Hyde Park Bank and Trust Company. His election was announced by the Board of Directors. Braun joined the bank in 1975 as an assistant vice president in Commercial [^ending. Braun is a native of Champaign, Illinois and resides with his wife Jane and their two sons in Glen Ellyn.

[view result] The Twenty Second Book Sale raised the record-breaking amount of $2850. The previous highs were $2401 last year and $2370 in 1970. Since 1963 the entire amount has been contributed to Worldwide Co-op Partners, an arm of the Cooperative League Fund. The money is used for educational projects and financial assistance to beginning co-ops throughout the world. [view result] This massive front door will swing wide open on Sunday, July 18, for the "Old Fashioned Lemonade Social" at Glessner House, 1800 S. Prairie aye. Tours of the house will be given from 1-4 p.m., and refreshments and entertainment will be featured in the cloistered courtyard. Highlight of the afternoon will be demonstrations of wood restoration by the master craftsmen currently working at Glessner House. George Dark will show bow he is reflnishlng this beautiful oak door and talk about its construction, with the unique black wrought iron grill and strappings. Other demonstrations will show wood carving techniques. Reservations are not required. Admission is $2 per person.
